Accountants in Nairobi, based in Lavington

Monthly bookkeeping, KRA compliance, payroll and company registration for businesses across Nairobi — with a specialism in restaurants, hotels and bakeries.

Most people looking for an accountant in Nairobi are not shopping for a firm. They have a specific problem — a KRA notice, a payroll that keeps going wrong, books that are four months behind, a partner asking for figures nobody can produce — and they need someone who can look at it this week.

This page is for that search. It says where we are, what we handle, and how to start.

Where we are

The Werks, Hatheru Road, Lavington, Nairobi.

Lavington sits between Westlands, Kilimani and Karen, which is where most of our client visits happen. We also work with businesses in the CBD, Industrial Area, Ngong Road, Karen, Runda, Kileleshwa, Parklands and out along Mombasa Road, and with clients in Kisumu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Naivasha and Nanyuki.

Most monthly work happens remotely — you send documents, we close the month, you get the numbers. Site visits happen where they are actually worth doing: a stock count, a systems review, a handover from a previous accountant, a training session with your team.

What we handle for Nairobi businesses

Monthly bookkeeping and management accounts. Books closed every month, reconciled, and explained. See accounting and bookkeeping.

KRA compliance. VAT by the 20th, PAYE and statutory deductions by the 9th, corporation tax, eTIMS and supplier invoice checks. See tax and KRA compliance.

Payroll. PAYE, SHIF, NSSF and the Housing Levy, calculated correctly and remitted on time, with payslips and records that hold up. See HR and payroll.

Company registration. Name search, CR1, CR2, CR8, incorporation and KRA PIN — then books open from day one. See company registration in Kenya.

Stock and inventory control. Counting systems, par levels and variance reporting for businesses holding stock. See stock and inventory control.

Restaurants, hotels and bakeries

Most of the businesses on our books are hospitality. Nairobi's food scene runs on thin margins, perishable stock and a workforce that changes every month, and it needs an accountant who can tell you why gross profit moved rather than one who files the return and stops.

If you run a restaurant, bar, hotel, lodge or bakery, start at restaurant and hotel accounting — GP by outlet, menu costed to the gram, and eTIMS supplier exposure audited before it becomes an assessment.

Already have an accountant in Nairobi?

Most businesses that call us do. Switching feels harder than it is: the incumbent holds the records and often the KRA credentials, and nobody wants a gap in the middle of a filing cycle.

We handle the handover. We tell you exactly what to request, review what arrives, and say plainly what is current and what needs catching up before anything else happens. You decide whether to proceed after you have seen that.

Getting started

A free 30-minute call. Bring your last three months of figures in whatever form they are in — a shoebox, a spreadsheet, a QuickBooks login. We tell you what we can see, what we cannot, and where we would start. Then you get a written scope and quote, and nothing begins before you have it.

Where in Nairobi are you based?

The Werks, Hatheru Road, Lavington — between Westlands, Kilimani and Karen. Most monthly work happens remotely; site visits happen where they are worth doing, such as a stock count, a systems review or a handover.

Do you only work with businesses in Nairobi?

No. Nairobi is where most of our client visits happen, but we work with businesses across Kenya — Kisumu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Naivasha and Nanyuki among them. Monthly accounting, payroll and filing do not require us to be in the room.

How quickly can you start?

The free call can usually happen the same week. How quickly we can take the work over depends on how far behind the books are and how fast the previous accountant releases the records — we will tell you honestly after the review rather than promise a date first.

Do you work with small businesses, or only established ones?

Both. We register companies for people starting out and we run the accounts for multi-site groups. What decides the fee is transaction volume, number of sites, headcount and whether you are VAT-registered — not how long you have been trading.

We are behind on our books and filings. Is that a problem to bring to you?

No — it is a large part of what we get brought in for. We will tell you what it will take to put right and deal with it in order of exposure, starting with whatever carries the most risk. Where deadlines demand it we clean up and file in parallel rather than waiting for a perfect set of books.

Will you work with our existing accountant?

Yes, where you want a proper handover. Transitions go better when they are handled openly, and we would rather take a clean handover than inherit a guess about what was done and why.

Do we have to change our accounting software?

Not usually. We work with what you already have unless it is actively costing you time or accuracy. If a change is genuinely worth making we will explain why rather than moving you onto something because it suits us.
