Questions people ask before they call

What does Cerullo & Associates help businesses with?

Six things: accounting and bookkeeping; tax and KRA compliance; HR and payroll; company registration; staff training; and business advisory and support. We build and run the systems behind those functions rather than only advising on them, so what we recommend is something that exists in your business the following month.

What type of businesses do you work with?

Owner-managed Kenyan businesses — the point at which informal systems have started to cost money and the owner is still close to the detail. Most of the businesses on our books are in hospitality, which is where our specialist work sits; the rest are in sectors including agriculture and marketing.

How does the free 30-minute call work?

It is an introductory conversation, not a pitch. You tell us what is not working; we ask practical questions and tell you what we can see from the outside, what we cannot, and where we would start. It runs about thirty minutes, on WhatsApp or the phone. There is no charge and no payment is taken to book it. If the answer needs us to go through your actual figures, we scope and quote that separately, in writing, before anything begins.

Can you work with my existing accountant or take over from them?

Either. Plenty of what we do sits alongside an existing accountant, in the areas where you want more support, better visibility or a specialism they do not carry — payroll or stock control, for instance, while they keep doing what they do. If you do decide to move across, we review the current setup, tell you what to request, help you gather the records and establish the new reporting and compliance process.

Do you work with restaurants and hotels?

Yes, and it is where most of our client work sits. Hospitality is a specialism inside the six services rather than a separate offering: it means gross profit reported by outlet, menus costed to the gram, stock counts that reconcile and wage percentage tracked against covers — the same accounting, tax and payroll work, done with the operational detail a kitchen and a bar actually generate.

Where are you based?

The Werks, Hatheru Road, Lavington, Nairobi. We work with clients across Nairobi and nationally, and most monthly work happens remotely, with on-site visits for stock counts, costings and training.
